Glowing through… doubt, isolation, our fears, life circumstances, new beginnings
In addition to attending or watching Laurel’s weekly worship services, we encourage you individually, with friends, or as a family, to take the time to light a candle, read the scripture and pray that we will carry on with strength from God. We know that Jesus is the light of the world and he will glow through the darkness with us and for us.
Week 1 • Doubt
Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?
Reflect on the scripture and on how doubt may be affecting you, a loved one, your community. Pray for clarity and the strength to work through that doubt, to glow through the darkness.
Week 2 • Isolation
Have you lost your way? Jesus will find you, no matter how far you have strayed.
Reflect on the scripture and on how you or people you know may be feeling isolated as a result of the pandemic or personal circumstances. Pray for ways to connect and the strength to reach out and overcome the feeling of isolation, to glow through the darkness.
Week 3 • Our Fears
Out of his great love, we will never be deserted or abandoned by our God.
Reflect on the scripture and on how we all allow our fears to hold us back. Pray for ways to understand, accept and overcome our fears, to glow through the darkness.
Week 4 • Life Circumstances
Plant yourself by the water of God’s Word that you may be nourished and fruitful.
Reflect on the scripture and on how life’s circumstances are full of challenges as well as celebrations. Pray for patience and grace so we may learn from all of life’s circumstances, to glow through the darkness.
Week 5 • New Beginnings
The true Light from heaven above has arrived to dispel the darkness of the earth below.
Reflect on the scripture and on how new beginnings may be uncomfortable, even scary, but bring with them vast opportunities. Pray for hope and acceptance to embrace new beginnings, to glow through the darkness.
