Join us for a viewing and discussion about The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie (Ronald Neame, 1969, 20th Century Fox)

Maggie Smith in an Oscar-winning performance as a strong-willed, independent-minded teacher at a girl’s school in Edinburgh, Scotland, in the 1930s. She flaunts her unorthodox and unconventional beliefs and behaviors as she devotes herself to girls just entering young womanhood, who idolize her.

scribblesSCRIBBLES – a Laurel Preschool age program

SCRIBBLES meets Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30. We invite you to register your preschool aged children for planned activities, music, crafts, games, story time, and a snack. Scribbles is a safe nurturing environment where children experience the love of God and the wonders of His creation. This is a great time for parents to shop, run errands, or just have some down time for themselves while their children are in a loving educational setting. Scribbles is open to all our Laurel family, friends, and neighbors. If you know of a family that may benefit from this program, please pass the information on. All pre-school age children are welcome. Scribbles has a minimal monthly fee of $10. This fee will be waived if you are involved in a discussion group or activity at Laurel during the same time period. The fee covers craft/art supplies, snacks, and more. Registration is required. Forms may be picked up at Laurel UMC or by calling 525-1866. The Fall semester starts on Thursday, September 5.

Please save and bring us all the books you have enjoyed and are now ready to part with. The Laurel Scholarship program is designed to benefit the youth of our church as they enter college and work to complete their education.
