Laurel was founded on the beliefs of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, who taught believers to actualize their faith in community, because actions speak louder than words. Wesley’s three simple rules to live by are relevant today — Do no harm. Do good. Stay in love with God.
We share beliefs with other Christians about the Trinity (God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and Jesus’s birth, death and resurrection that brings us salvation and instruction for daily living. At Laurel we welcome you where you are on your spiritual journey and invite you to develop a personal relationship with God through a variety of pathways — worship, spiritual development, and service.
The United Methodist Church’s mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Laurel’s mission is to respond to God’s love by sharing generously, accepting others, enjoying one another and God, seeking spiritual growth, and caring for others. We seek to heal the lives of those in our community and around the world.
